Peace like a reboot

When the chairwoman broke down in tears, loan officer Michelle Escobar took over the meeting. She adlibbed something about herbal remedies and then encouraged the women in their work. It had certainly been a difficult few weeks since their last Opportunity International Trust Bank meeting. Everyone in the room had been affected by the devastating typhoons that had swept through the region — homes damaged or destroyed, businesses ruined; one woman lost two family members to the storm.

Beauty in the moment

God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NASB).

Have you ever thought about expanding the Lord’s Prayer to the point where it becomes infused throughout your entire day? This might be the key to success for Colorado-based photographer Dave Black. “Each day I set a time aside to sit down and pray,” he explains. “But the Bible encourages us to be in a mode of continual praise and worship, so I began expanding the Lord’s Prayer into every aspect of my life, on the advice of my pastor. When we get intimate with God, He reveals things to us . . . even when we complain.”

A look inside

“My friends, you must do all you can to show that God has really chosen and selected you. If you keep on doing this, you won’t stumble and fall.” – 2 Peter 1:10 (CEV)

The portfolio review is one of the tensest times for most photographers. Most every person we show our work to is someone we would like to work with, and therefore anything less than “I would like to use you” is disappointing. We are exposing our soul for review.
